The Co-Op : Casting Lots

Ironically, ( perhaps !) , the media and the markets are crucifying the Co-Op this Easter weekend.

How did a movement founded on the ‘Rochdale Principles’ get involved in capitalistic usury in the first place, (and since when was this ever ‘ethical’) ?….And was Paul Flowers the quintessential ‘useful idiot’, installed to preside over a purposeful disintegration ?…

Anyway, after the betrayal and the thirty pieces of silver, – the asset-stripping, the casting of lots, can now go ahead…

”Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took His garments and divided them into four parts, to every soldier a part, and the coat. Now the coat was without seam, woven whole from the top down. Therefore, they said among themselves, let us not tear it, but cast lots for it, whose it will become. Thus the saying in Scripture was fulfilled: they divided My raiment among them, and upon My vesture did they cast lots” (John 19:23-24).

The money-men -‘los mercaderes del templo’- may indeed decide that the ‘vesture’ remains a commodity worth keeping intact, but as before, any Resurrection will be entirely illusory…
