Thanks to Russia’s limited intervention, Assad’s position in the civil war has gone from strength to strength. The military balance has swung dramatically in the government’s favour, while Trump has acknowledged that putting Syria into the hands of Wahabbist crazies would not be in the United States’ best interests, and said just days ago that the US will no longer go after President Assad as a war criminal. Why then would Assad risk throwing all this away for the sake of a shocking and provocative, but militarily insignificant, chemical weapons attack ? It would be an act of the most extreme folly.
“Even if you take no sides, it doesn’t make sense for Assad under these conditions to all of a sudden use poison gas. I think there is zero chance that he would have done this deliberately.” ~ Ron Paul
”I am therefore for now unconvinced that this was a deliberate use of chemical weapons by Assad forces. I do not rule it out, but it would take much more concrete evidence than currently offered to prove they did something so strongly and obviously against their own interest. But western governments and media have determined to make that the narrative, so the truth is, as so often in modern geo-politics, entirely incidental to the course of future events.” ~ Craig Murray
”At the start of the Vietnam War, when I was 19, we were told that North Vietnamese ships had attacked an American ship and they started bombing North Vietnam. Three-and-a-half million Vietnamese died in the years that followed. And then 20 years later it comes out that that was all complete fiction – made up – and so I never rush to accept anything I’m told by America, it is all about American imperialism.” ~ Ken Livingtone

Clearly, Trump is not in control of the most important part of his agenda—peace with the thermo-nuclear powers and cessation of interference in the affairs of other countries.
Even the Pentagon would probably be reluctant to go to war with either Russia or China, but the monkey on its back – the military industrial complex – needs to have its periodic fix in order to sustain itself. Simply put, there is big, unaccountable money in war, or even just the shadow of it; and war is not only a racket, but a psychopathic addiction,
The military/security complex is using its puppets in the House of Representatives and the Senate to generate renewed conflict with Iran and to continue threats against China.
And Trump cannot simultaneously make peace with Russia and make war on Iran and China.

”In the circus known as the American presidential campaign, Donald Trump is being presented as a lunatic, a fascist. He is certainly odious; but he is also a media hate figure. That alone should arouse our scepticism.”
The Democratic Party (DNC) elevated Trump and encouraged the media to legitimize him, so that Hillary Clinton could run a campaign of impunity and fear.
According to WikiLeaks : ”The DNC memo named Trump, Senator Ted Cruz, and Ben Carson as wanted candidates. “We need to be elevating the Pied Piper candidates so that they are leaders of the pack and tell the press to take them seriously,” the memo noted.
Clinton was widely presumed to be the Democratic presidential nominee long before the primaries began. The media gave Hillary what she wanted; impunity for the corruption, lies, and deceitfulness rampant in her political record, and an opponent who divided his own political party while driving fear and anxiety into her own to the point where enough Democrats and voters would gladly vote for her just to avoid Trump becoming president.”
In a particularly significant speech – on July 1st, republished on Chinese websites, but little reported in the West – Chinese President Xi Jinping baldly stated :
“The world is on the brink of radical changes. We see how the EU is gradually crumbling and the US economy is collapsing. This will end in a new world order. So, in ten years we will have a new world order unlike anything before, in which the key will be the Union of Russia and China…
”We are now witnessing aggressive actions by the United States against Russia and China. I believe that Russia and China may form an alliance before which NATO will be powerless, and it will put an end to the imperialist aspirations of the West….”
Xi went on to state that ”China advocates people of all countries joining together to change pressure into power, risks into opportunities, and replace confrontation with cooperation, and monopolies with win-win deals.”
It is apparent that once ‘elected’, neither Zio-warrior Clinton nor ‘Nuke-em’ Trump can expect anything like a clear run for the stalled military-industrial imperialist agenda.
Things could get very messy indeed….
As the economic incentive for peace is lost or defeated, and is increasingly replaced by investment in an endless and unwinnable ‘War on Terror’, and the capitalistic exploitation of disasters, both natural and man-made, there is a danger that one part of human society will begin to look increasingly like Israel, with its walled-off areas, and massive ‘homeland security’ apparatus…. and the rest like Gaza……
An alliance between Assad’s Ba’athist Party and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) against the perfidious Turks might offer some hope for a long-term regional settlement : a more stable, secular, geographical solution, (perhaps involving an independent Kurdish State); the marginalisation of Religious Fundamentalist Jihadism; AND, most urgently, the defeat of Zionist/Neo-Con Imperialism in the region….

The neo-con Imperialists, and their proxy ”enemy” ISIS are equally despicable representatives of the Human Race. I take it as a sign of hope to see some genuine altruism in action….
