Not Our Problem

Saudi Arabia and the UAE – like the other Gulf States –  feel no requirement to have concerns about the worsening humanitarian crisis in the Middle East. They have bought the ”friendship” of the West with oil money in order to be left to run their countries entirely in the interests of  their absolute rulers, the al-Saud and Maktoum families.

One day, perhaps, a reckoning will come, most likely when the oil runs out. Then their fair-weather allies in the EU and USA will seek to play the game of geopolitics with someone else. But until that day comes, these authoritarian states can safely shut their doors to their Muslim “brothers” and pretend it isn’t their problem, even though they, along with their Western allies and Israel, were largely responsible for creating it…
